EU Just Transition Fund Priorities

EU Just Transition Fund Priorities

Priority 1

Generating employment for former peat communities by investing in tourism and the diversification of the local economy

Key Actions:

  • Foster the economic diversification of the territory by supporting productive investments in micro-enterprises, SMEs and economic stakeholders in key sectors.
  • Support the implementation of bottom-up local and regional economic strategies.
  • Support research, development and innovation activities to contribute to the development of the green and circular economy.

Priority 2

Support the regeneration and repurposing of peatlands and related land

Key Actions:

  • Under this priority, the Programme will support a set of actions for rehabilitation, regeneration and repurposing of peatlands and associated lands that will no longer be used for the extraction, transport and processing of peat.
  • These actions will complement the activities under Priority 1 by providing employment for impacted workers and communities and by making the Territory a more attractive place to live, work and visit.

Priority 3

Providing former peat communities with smart and sustainable mobility options to enable them to benefit directly from the green transition

Key Actions:

  • As part of this priority, the EU JTF Programme will enhance sustainable and clean mobility in the Territory by supporting actions focusing on the decarbonisation of transport to provide clean transport solutions to the people working, studying and visiting the EU JTF Territory.
  • Sustainable and clean mobility in the region is essential to ensuring the Territory’s population can access jobs and training in order to participate in the economic and community diversification activities of Priority 1.
