Start your day with a visit to

Donegal Castle .

Built by the O’Donnell chieftains in the 15th Century, beside the river Eske in

Donegal Town, Donegal Castle was rebuilt in Jacobean style in the 16th Century by Sir Basil Brooke, after Hugh O’Donnell burnt it

to the ground rather than let it fall into enemy hands. Information panels chronicle the history of the castle and guided tours are

available.

Sliabh Liag Cliffs

and take a guided walking tour with a local walking guide. There are terrific views of the Atlantic

Ocean, the Sligo Mountains and Donegal Bay as you walk towards the terrifyingly high top of Sliabh League, where the cliff face of

Bunglas rises over 600m above the raging ocean.

Fanad Head Lighthouse

, where you can learn more about the Fanad Head area in the

Visitor Centre. From the lighthouse carpark you can stroll along the headland in awe of the high waves and theWild AtlanticWay’s

most rugged stretch of coastline.With the backdrop of the lighthouse it’s an ideal photo opportunity for the holiday album.

Travel to Rathmullan for a visit to

Kinnegar Craft Brewery Centre .

Visits to the brewery offer enthusiasts a complete overview of

the brewing process, beginning in the malt loft and continuing through the brew house, the fermentation process, the conditioning

cellar, and finally to packaging. All of this in a uniquely compact space!

Afterwards, in the brewery’s Taproom at nearby Rathmullan House, you’ll be welcome to taste their range to help you appreciate

the influence that different malts, hops and yeast have on the flavour profile and general character of individual beers. Tour

participants receive a token for a beer. You’ll be able to make a well-informed decision before deciding which one to order!
