Experience Description

This 2hr looped walk circles the far tip of the Sheep’s Head Peninsula, on

tracks and paths which are sometimes steep and rocky, passing high cliffs. It

touches on lovely little Lough Akeen and there is spectacular coastal scenery,

including Mizen Head and the Beara Peninsula.

Parking, Access/Ability & Special Requirements

Car parking at Wild AtlanticWay Sheepshead Discovery Point. Moderate level

of mobility required. Suitable clothing and footwear required for walking on

track/trail with uneven surface, i.e. walking boots and rainwear. Bernie’s Café

with resrtooms at car park.

Experience Description

2hr seashore NatureWalk at Derrynane Historic Park. This is a 1.2km looped

coastal walk with great views of Derrynane Bay. Derrynane National Historic

Park, plantations and garden walks were laid out in the 18th & 19th centuries,

principally north and west of the house. Some features of the demesne are

strongly associated with Daniel O’Connell, including the old summer house.

The main gardens can be reached through a tunnel under the road. AV

presentation and guided tours available on request. Guidebooks in English,

Irish, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Dutch also available.
