Experience Description
Step back in time on a visit to Glencolmcille Folk Village. In this isolated
settlement, you’ll explore several thatched cottages, getting a feel for what
life was like in Ireland spanning hundreds of years. Visit the fisherman’s
cottage, crammed full of fishing-related artefacts and stories. Hear the story
of Father James McDyer – who came to this isolated valley in 1951 and
helped to establish running water, electricity and industry. Sample the delights
at the Village’s tea room and craft shop, which has lots of traditional local
crafts such as weaving, knitting and spinning on show. Guided and self-guided
tours available. Self-guided materials available in French; German; Dutch;
