Blackrock Castle is a 16th century fort turned robotic observatory and science

centre with panoramic views of Cork Harbour. Journeys of Exploration tells

the story of Cork’s maritime heritage through 400 years of history. Discover

how science has shaped history in new tours, animations, workshops and

exhibits. Discover a time of Merchant City Traders & Defended Treasures

with our expert explainers. Open your eyes to the wonders of the Universe

with Cosmos at the Castle. Take a tour of the night skies with our in-house

astronomers. You can even send a message to Space! Duration: 1hr 30mins –

2hrs.

Experience Description

The Celtic Tree Trail is located in the beautiful surrounds of the Old Rectory,

a protected structure with heritage gardens. Here you will walk the trail with

an experienced guide, learn about the Celts and their worship of certain

trees. Learn about the ‘Noble Trees, the Ogham and Irish languages. Specially

commissioned film is currently being produced which will be part of the Celtic

Tree Trail Experience in summer

2016.We

have a strong ecotourism policy,

being awarded Gold Standard by Ecotourism Ireland. Trail includes lunch in the

restored heritage barn at Killedmond. Duration of tour: 3 hours.
