Our unique sea tour experience of Carlingford Lough which gives you an

insight into the myths and legends of the Cooley Peninsula and Viking times.

Experience stories on our ‘Floating through Time’ safari on board our new

addition to Louth Adventures. Cruiser departs from Carlingford Harbour under

King John’s Castle. On this trip you will hear the story of Cuchulainn and

Queen Maebh; also the story of the Vikings arriving into Carlingford. All told

by the Skipper and local tour guide on board. There will be audio of the Vikings

sailing and props on board. Tour: 1hr 30 mins.

Opening Details

Saturdays & Sundays, expanding into weekdays as the season opens fully.

Only operating 3 hours either side of high tide in Carlingford. All trips are

subject to tides and weather conditions on the Lough.

Parking, Access/Ability & Special Requirements

Parking for one coach at the Harbour. Minimum age 5 years. Passengers with

mobility limitations will be picked up at Carlingford Marina. All passengers will

be given a life jacket while on board. Refreshments available in Carlingford

Town.

Experience Description

Upon arrival visitors will get a feel for the architecture and surroundings of an

old Irish homestead. They will be greeted by our friendly young staff and tour

guides. The visitor will enter Maggie Heaney’s cottage where the old turf fire

will be blazing and they will be told about the authentic items in the cottage.

Next they will see a short video from a previous inhabitant and what they will

see on their short walk to the highest point in Meath including views of up

to 18 counties. They will hear about the Children of Lir and where they spent

300 years. They will get to touch and feel Loughcrew Ancient Passage tombs

including Cairn T with its beautifully decorated ancient carvings. Tea/coffee,

homemade scones provided. Tour including refreshments: 2 hrs.

Loughcrew Passage Tomb not accessible by wheelchair. Outdoor footwear and
