Oonagh O’Dwyer
Experience
Join Oonagh O’ Dwyer on a guidedWild Food walk to a secret beach, where
a family of wild seals play hide and seek on the rocks nearby, where barnacle
geese and wild duck forage on the rick pickings and where you might catch
a magical glimpse of hump back whales on the horizon. Your guide will show
you how to sustainably harvest up to 12 of Ireland’s beautiful seaweeds,
explain the history of seaweed harvesting in the area, the nutritional benefits,
cooking and drying methods. You will finish with a wild food picnic on the
rocks, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. One of the highlights is finding Pepper
Dulse, that’s called the Truffle of the Sea, and eating fresh Dilisk, to ignite the
fifth taste, Umami.
Take home a copy of Oonagh’s LittleWild Food Book.
