What we do

Fáilte Ireland supports tourism growth across Ireland by investing in destinations, strengthening businesses, and building a more sustainable and competitive sector.

Our role in tourism

Fáilte Ireland leads the development of tourism in Ireland at a national level. The focus is on building a strong, sustainable tourism sector that delivers for visitors, businesses and communities.

Our mission

We energise Irish tourism through bold ideas, collaborative partnerships and a strong focus on results.

This work is grounded in improving the experience on the ground and creating lasting positive impact across Ireland’s tourism industry. It focuses on four key areas:

  • Developing destinations to enhance the visitor experience in a sustainable way
  • Supporting tourism businesses to grow and succeed
  • Driving demand for domestic tourism and business events
  • Partnering for long-term, sustainable growth

We develop destinations

We invest in and shape tourism experiences across Ireland to make destinations stronger, more connected and easier to enjoy. This includes supporting destination development plans (DEDPs), investing in attractions, trails and experiences, improving access, wayfinding and connectivity, and encouraging year‑round and regional tourism growth.

Our goal is simple. Better experiences that encourage people to stay longer and return again.

We support tourism businesses

Tourism businesses are at the heart of the sector. Fáilte Ireland works with businesses across the country, offering a range of supports to help them grow and succeed.

This includes training, mentoring and capability supports, digital and AI readiness supports, funding programmes and investment supports, and insights and advice to help improve performance.

We focus on supporting businesses to:

  • Increase productivity and competitiveness
  • Improve customer experience
  • Grow sustainably and build resilience

We drive demand and improve the visitor experience

Fáilte Ireland focuses on building domestic tourism and business events, while helping to improve the visitor experience across Ireland. This work includes:

  • National marketing initiatives that encourage domestic travel.
  • Support for events and festivals to drive year‑round visits.
  • Improvements to how visitors plan, book and move through destinations.

We also work with businesses to enhance the quality of the experience at every stage, because every interaction matters, from planning a trip to the welcome on arrival.

We use data and insights to guide decisions

Strong decisions rely on strong evidence. Fáilte Ireland tracks tourism performance, analyses visitor behaviour and measures the impact of its programmes and investments.

These insights help the tourism sector understand what’s working and where to focus next. They also give Fáilte Ireland the confidence to plan ahead and support a more resilient, sustainable industry.
