Accessibility statement
At Fáilte Ireland, we're committed to making our websites accessible to everyone. This statement covers failteireland.ie and reflects our obligations under the European Union (Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications) Regulations 2020.
Our approach
This website was developed to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard. We are working with our web technology partner and accessibility specialists to ensure the best possible experience for everyone who uses our website and to meet the required accessibility standards.
Substantial compliance has been achieved to date, any areas of non-compliance are listed below.

How we’re improving accessibility
Prior to launch, we tested Failteireland.ie against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. Testing included automated checks and a manual audit carried out by users with lived experience of accessibility barriers. The audit covered a representative sample of pages, including the most common layouts, components and features. This gave us a clear picture of what was working and what needed to improve before the site went live.
We check our staging website before each monthly code release to help keep our live website accessible. Accessibility testing is conducted before each release and critical accessibility issues must be resolved before publishing. After each release, we scan the live site again to confirm it meets this standard and make any required fixes.
Exemptions and areas of non-compliance
This website is currently partially compliant.
Substantial compliance has been achieved but there are elements of the website that are not yet fully accessible. This is due to legacy content or third-party tools, not developed by Fáilte Ireland, that we rely on, including:
- Online forms - forms on this website use a third-party CAPTCHA security feature provided through Microsoft Dynamics 365. This feature is not currently fully accessible to all users. If you experience difficulty completing a form, please contact us and we will provide an alternative way to access the service.
- Embedded Vimeo videos
- Power BI reports – some articles in the Research and insights section of the website link to interactive visualisations of dashboards that may not be fully accessible.
- Downloadable PDFs – some older documents on this website, created prior to the launch of the site in July 2026, are not fully accessible. The website currently includes approximately 400 PDFs. We aim to replace or remove inaccessible PDFs on an ongoing basis, prioritising the most-used documents first.
- We link to Google maps for information on event locations. The visual map provided by Google can provide challenges for assistive technology.
Where possible, Fáilte Ireland works with third-party technology providers that offer accessible services. We will continue to prioritise accessibility when selecting and reviewing these services.
